I love Penelope Rex! This is my favorite funny book for Back to School. On her first day, Penelope discovers that her classmates are children—and she can’t help but think they look delicious! After learning firsthand how it feels to be on the receiving end of a big scare, Penelope realizes the importance of kindness, empathy, and making friends.

Another favorite! It helps students understand the importance of kindness, teamwork, and supporting one another. It sets the foundation for creating a caring classroom community.
The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn

I loveeeee Chester the raccoon! This story follows Chester Raccoon as he worries about his first day of school. His mother’s special kissing hand helps him feel loved and brave. It’s a perfect book for discussing separation anxiety and family support.
